Landmark Cafe Review

I usually don’t do food reviews but this is a great place to go if you’re looking for good food.  I took a meal home today.  I got baked chicken, fries, and carrots for $5.99–a great deal.  The carrots were okay, a little undercooked.  Your basic cooked baby carrots.  The fries–I can compare them to the fries at Hudson’s except they are SO much better than Hudson’s.  Hudson’s fries are extremely greasy–these are not as greasy.   And the baked chicken–my word.  I was given a breast and a drumstick.  I removed the drumstick and half of the fries and will have a fantastic lunch tomorrow.  The chicken wasn’t dry at all and was very moist.  I was shocked when I entered the door and saw the exposed beams in the ceiling.  They did a great job renovating the building.

Landmark Cafe also serves breakfast from 6:30am-10:30am…and they have chicken biscuits.  They have breakfast items (eggs, grits, pancakes) a la carte but they also have plates.  They also serve hamburgers that are (I overheard the woman who apparently cooks every meal there) cooked over an open flame grill.

The place is already very popular.  Every time I drive by there at lunch time the parking lot is full and part of the parking lot at Pray’s Mill Baptist Church is full as well.  The cashier said people that live nearby drive their bikes to the cafe simply because it’s easier to drive there.  Landmark Cafe is located in the building to the left of Pray’s Mill Baptist Church.  They don’t have chicken every day–I believe the meat rotates from day to day as do the vegetables.  Today they had broccoli and cheese, carrots, and pinto beans, but you can also substitute a side like fries if you would rather.  They also had peach cobbler today.

I’ll try and type up the menu tomorrow into a PDF file and upload it to the blog.  Their current health inspection score is a 100.

Anyone else eat here recently?  What did you have, and what did you think about it?

I ate there Thursday last week – the food was fine, service needs a bit more work. Our sever was about 14 – must have been son of owners. Took 45 minutes to get our food – a cheeseburger, chicken fingers and the daily special. Place only had about 6 people in it, so I have no idea why it took so long. No one bothered to come out and explain the delay. Kid never checked back after bringing us our drinks – had to ask for the refills. Had to find him to get check. Granted he is a kid, but let’s say his service and the long wait with no apologies made for poor first impression. Will be back – when I’m not in a hurry. Food was that good and I agree about the fries.

Had mashed potato’s & meatloaf. Food was ok. Meatloaf was very greasy and potato’s lacked flavor. Also food was lukewarm. That worries me because that means it is not at safe temperatures. No problem with the service. Actually they thanked me like 5 times for coming in. No dessert prices listed anywhere either.

Ok folks I had breakfast here this morning. We had eggs, bacon and toast. The fryer was broken so we were not able to have hash browns. The food was hot and good and the service was outstanding. The service who waited on us was named Casey and was very nice and courteous. The foos took about 15 minutes to arrive, however Casey chatted with us for a while and explained the hold up. Over all I had a great experience and good breakfast. I would definitely go back for another meal.

My husband, 4 yr old daughter, and myself ate here on Halloween morning. We were disappointed that they weren’t serving breakfast anymore, and it was 10:15am. We had wings (on the bland side), chicken fingers and fries (average). It took 1 hr and 3 minutes for our food to arrive, and actually had 4 tables that came in after us that received their orders before us. The service was friendly and we were thanked. But it is definitely going to be awhile before we go back.
