ANNOUNCEMENTS

On Tuesday, October 7

th and Thursday, October 16th, there will be a Public Information Meeting on the Three State Constitutional Amendments and the Special Election in the City and County on Tax Allocation Districts. These meetings will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held in Citizen’s Hall of the Douglas County Courthouse.

Friday – Sunday, October 10

th – 12th , is our annual Fire Prevention Weekend inside Arbor Place Mall, and the Public is invited to meet, greet and interact with the men and women of our Fire Department. The exhibit this year will feature kids “Dancing with the Firefighters” to such tunes as “Burning Love”, “Fire”, and “Burning Down the House”, and our educational exhibit will be “Are You Smarter than a Douglas County Firefighter?”. Our firefighters will be inside the mall all weekend and are looking forward to having fun with our residents and teaching about fire safety in a fun way.

The Public is also invited to the following events:

District 2 Town Hall Meeting with Commissioner Charley Camp Tuesday, October 14th Deer Lick Park Activity Center 6 – 7 p.m., Meet and Greet the Staff, view Department exhibits and tour the renovated Activity Center

7 – 8 p.m., Questions and Answers with Commissioner Camp

Groundbreaking for the New Lithia Springs Recreational Park 12 noon, Monday, October 20th On the site of the park on South Sweetwater Road just west of Mt. Vernon Road

Groundbreaking for the New E-911 Center and Emergency Operations Center 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21st On the site of the new center on the newly acquired County property, turn off Fairburn Road at the Shell Station

Ribbon-cutting for the new Cardio Fitness Center at Boundary Waters Aquatic Center 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22nd With open house to follow for the rest of the day
