I submitted this a couple of days ago to the Fox5 News Blogs.  It’s probably not up yet.

On November 30, 2007, the Cobb & Douglas Public Health stopped putting restaurant inspection scores on their website.  They put up a message claiming that their “vendor” had to create new software for them in order to put the “new version” of the scores up.  But all that’s been added was a letter grade.  And for the past year, they haven’t put updated–or ANY–scores on their website.

I emailed them a couple of months ago.  They told me they had just received the software from the vendor so it would likely be another month.  That month came and went, and still no restaurant scores are to be had on their website.  They tell citizens that scores are posted in the restaurants.  But who wants to go to restaurant after restaurant to find out what scores they have received??

I think the Cobb & Douglas Public Health needs to be inspected.  I’ve received comments on my blog saying that some of their services have been discontinued, including high school athletic check-ups.  And as for not having restaurant inspection scores available to citizens for almost a year?  That should warrant an inspection all on its own.

This is what is on their website instead of inspection scores:

The new food service form is currently unavailable in electronic form for Cobb and Douglas counties. We are working with our vendor, and expect this feature to be operational in the near future. All food service establishments are required to post their most recent inspection within 15 feet of the main entrance and on the drive thru window. Feel free to contact the Environmental Health office at the numbers below if you have any additional questions or concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary delay may cause.

They mention this delay is TEMPORARY.  Please tell me, in what world is 11 months and 11 days TEMPORARY???
