A $10,000 bond was set Tuesday in Douglas County Magistrate Court for Darrell Bailey Johnson on charges of two counts of sexual assault against a person in custody in an alleged case in which officials said a former Hiram High School teacher had sexual contact with a 17-year-old former student in Douglas County between March and April 2008.

Assistant District Attorney Eddie Barker said Johnson is facing related charges in Paulding County.

Both local charges were made after the alleged victim told investigators from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office about at least two alleged incidents which occurred in Douglas County, Barker said.

Officials said Johnson has been cooperative and turned himself in to the Douglasville Police Department.

Barker said he expects Johnson to plead guilty soon, with an agreement that his sentence in Douglas County will run concurrent with the sentence he receives for related charges in Paulding County.

Johnson said in court that he resigned from his position at Hiram High School in April 2008.
