Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies captured three Fulton County car theft suspects Monday, thanks to a chase and tracking dogs.

According to Chief Deputy Stan Copeland, Douglas County officials received a call about 11:30 a.m. from Fulton County authorities that they were in pursuit of a suspected stolen Lexus from Chattahoochee Hills in Fulton County.

After the vehicle crossed into Douglas County, the deputies lost contact for awhile, Copeland said. The car was later spotted near the Thornton Road-Riverside Drive intersection, where it had been abandoned.

“We were able to track them using K-9 officers, and the three suspects were taken into custody,” Copeland said.

He said the suspects would be turned over to Fulton County authorities to face vehicle theft charges. The suspects’ names were not available.
