Douglas County authorities are investigating an early Sunday morning home invasion and stabbing of a man at a St. Charles Place residence off Yancey Road.

According to Douglas County Chief Deputy Stan Copeland, two or three men broke into the home during the night and were waiting for the owner, an Atlanta businessman, to arrive home.

“It appears that they were looking for money that they thought the business man had at his home,” Copeland said. “However, his (the businessman’s) brother came home first.”

Copeland said the brother got into an altercation with the suspects and was stabbed. He was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Major Case Unit is investigating several leads in the case, Copeland said.
