Tonight after the Legislative Work Session meeting.  More info about the shopping center here.  Does anyone know what corner this will be on?  I’m thinking it has to be where Christian Auto Brokers used to be.  The map on Loopnet doesn’t say.  The DRI report, which looks to be completed, is here.  I also found a plan for it showing all the stores, the parking lot–looks like they want it to be another Avenue West Cobb.  Kind of an odd place for it.  The plan also shows the Bright Star Connector, which is interesting since it will not be completed anytime soon.  The plan is dated December 4, 2008 and the Loopnet listing says it will  have “2 million SF of retail, office, multi-family housing, hotel and convention center.”  Didn’t we already have someone plan something like this near the mall?  Remember the guy who wanted to make it look like a 1930s village, wanted to include retail, office, housing?  His plan was denied. What makes Douglas Place any different from the previous plan near the mall?  This plan calls for four hotels, a health club (is Douglasville lacking in health clubs??), a theater (Regal Cinemas isn’t going to like that since they’re the only theater in town), as well as a wholesale club (either BJ’s or CostCo–and Sam’s won’t like that since it will be right across the street).  They also want to build a 27,000 foot conference center. This looks like the same sort of plan that was proposed near the mall–in two buildings they want to put retail on the bottom floor and residential on the top floor.  After doing a bit of research on my own blog, I have found this new plan is not by the same development groups or architects.
