I had to ask on Facebook where it was on celebratedouglascounty.com–I searched and couldn’t find it.  So thanks again.

I’m going to compare the 2009 budget numbers to the 2010 proposed budget numbers.

From looking at the third page, it looks like property taxes are going up.  Public Works requested about $12,000 but are only going to get a little over $7,000.  Culture/Recreation?  They requested a little over $6,800 but they’re going to get a little over $7,400.

The BOC are increasing their budget by about $78,000 from last year.  Communications is decreasing about $20,000.  The Election Board budget is increasing by a little over $172,000.  General Appropriations is increasing by a little over $1 million.  A lot of the funds are decreasing, but there is still a $907,000 increase from the 2008 budget in the General Fund.

Eleven departments in the Judicial category are getting budget cuts–and there are twelve total.  The only one getting a $10,000 increase is the Clerk of Superior Court.  Public Safety will be seeing a $687,071 cut.  DOT, on the other hand, will be getting an increase of about $3 million.  The Aquatic Center’s Budget is increasing by a little over $25,000.  Economic Development is being cut from $100,000 to $25,000.  That surprised me.  Rideshare is getting cut by over $1.3 million.  A sidewalk fund of $27,582 existed in 2008, but not 2009–and will grow to $80,443 in 2010.

Any comments about the proposed 2010 budget?
